States of the EV charger icon

The card picks the state from your entity, so the icon always shows what the EV charger is doing.

  • IdleResting state, shown when the device is off or idle.
  • Charging
  • Done

Which Home Assistant entities fit

  • binary_sensor entities with device class battery_charging are detected as this icon automatically.
  • Picked automatically when the entity or device name contains "ev charger", "wallbox", "charger", "wall connector", "easee", on switch, input_boolean, binary_sensor or sensor entities.
  • Any entity that is simply on or off, such as a switch or input_boolean: on shows charging, off shows idle. Entity states named like a state below (for example done) are used directly.
  • Works with any entity whose state you map: pick this icon in the card and map your entity's own state words to these states with the card's states: option.

How to use it in Home Assistant

  1. Install the Animara card: one link install, HACS as a custom repository, or copy animara-card.js to /config/www.
  2. Edit your dashboard, choose Add card, then Animara.
  3. Pick your entity. Choose EV charger in the Icon list if it is not detected automatically.
  4. Paste your Full Pack license key into the License key field once per dashboard.
