Animated thermostat icon for Home Assistant

Off shows a dark screen, idle shows white digits that glow softly, a light gliding along the dial and a breathing setpoint dot, heating fills an orange ring with a glowing sun heat symbol like an air conditioner and cooling fills a blue ring with a turning snowflake.

4 states: off, idle, heating and cooling. Part of the climate icons in the Animara Full Pack.

States of the thermostat icon

The card picks the state from your entity, so the icon always shows what the thermostat is doing.

  • OffResting state, shown when the device is off or idle.
  • Idle
  • Heating
  • Cooling

Which Home Assistant entities fit

  • climate entities. The card reads the climate entity's HVAC mode and action, so the icon follows cooling, heating, fan and off by itself.
  • Picked automatically when the entity or device name contains "thermostat", "nest", "ecobee", "tado", on climate, switch, input_boolean, binary_sensor or sensor entities.
  • Any entity that is simply on or off, such as a climate, switch or input_boolean: on shows idle, off shows off. Entity states named like a state below (for example cooling) are used directly.
  • Works with any entity whose state you map: pick this icon in the card and map your entity's own state words to these states with the card's states: option.
