States of the smoke detector icon

The card picks the state from your entity, so the icon always shows what the smoke detector is doing.

  • ClearResting state, shown when the device is off or idle.
  • Smoke

Which Home Assistant entities fit

  • binary_sensor entities with device class smoke are detected as this icon automatically.
  • binary_sensor entities with device class gas are detected as this icon automatically.
  • binary_sensor entities with device class carbon_monoxide are detected as this icon automatically.
  • binary_sensor entities with device class heat are detected as this icon automatically.
  • Picked automatically when the entity or device name contains "smoke", on switch, input_boolean, binary_sensor or sensor entities.
  • Any entity that is simply on or off, such as a switch or input_boolean: on shows smoke, off shows clear. Entity states named like a state below (for example smoke) are used directly.
  • Works with any entity whose state you map: pick this icon in the card and map your entity's own state words to these states with the card's states: option.

How to use it in Home Assistant

  1. Install the Animara card: one link install, HACS as a custom repository, or copy animara-card.js to /config/www.
  2. Edit your dashboard, choose Add card, then Animara.
  3. Pick your entity. Choose Smoke detector in the Icon list if it is not detected automatically.
  4. Paste your Full Pack license key into the License key field once per dashboard.
