States of the smart lock icon

The card picks the state from your entity, so the icon always shows what the smart lock is doing.

  • LockedResting state, shown when the device is off or idle.
  • Unlocked
  • Jammed

Which Home Assistant entities fit

  • binary_sensor entities with device class lock are detected as this icon automatically.
  • Any lock entity gets this icon by default when nothing more specific matches.
  • Picked automatically when the entity or device name contains "lock", on lock, switch, input_boolean, binary_sensor or sensor entities.
  • Any entity that is simply on or off, such as a switch or input_boolean: on shows unlocked, off shows locked. Entity states named like a state below (for example jammed) are used directly.
  • Works with any entity whose state you map: pick this icon in the card and map your entity's own state words to these states with the card's states: option.

How to use it in Home Assistant

  1. Install the Animara card: one link install, HACS as a custom repository, or copy animara-card.js to /config/www.
  2. Edit your dashboard, choose Add card, then Animara.
  3. Pick your entity. Choose Smart lock in the Icon list if it is not detected automatically.
