States of the light bulb icon

The card picks the state from your entity, so the icon always shows what the light bulb is doing.

  • OffResting state, shown when the device is off or idle.
  • On

Which Home Assistant entities fit

  • light entities. The card reads the light entity's on state, and the glow follows brightness and color on dimmable lights.
  • Any light entity gets this icon by default when nothing more specific matches.
  • Picked automatically when the entity or device name contains "bulb", on light, switch, input_boolean, binary_sensor or sensor entities.
  • Any entity that is simply on or off, such as a light, switch or input_boolean: on shows on, off shows off.
  • Works with any entity whose state you map: pick this icon in the card and map your entity's own state words to these states with the card's states: option.
